Purchased in 1998 from the second owner with 37,000 miles. Began a moderate restoration, as the car needed very little. Added an S spoiler and turbo tire rods and new shocks, which improved high-speed stability. Added a 3rd condenser in the front of the drivers rear wheel well that dropped the A/C temps into the 30's and upper 20's. Redoing the front seats in leather from vinyl and replacing the carpet for improved appearance. Having a Becker radio installed and deep 6" Fuchs polished by Al Reed next week. After 39 years the dash cracked last winter (They just don't make them like they used to). Replaced the dash and speaker. The car has been trouble free for 21,000 miles.

The Sportomatic has proved to be a wonderful choice. The switch on the shifter is best to stay clear of, and is extremely sensitive to both North/South axis position and the downward pressure on the boot. The Sportomatic is hard to beat in stop and go traffic and in town driving. Drives as advertised. Shift the gears or put it is 2nd or 3rd depending on the city speed limit and traffic. The only thing that I cannot adjust is the clutch locking speed/intensity. My mechanic tried by it seems unresponsive to adjustment. So to avoid the thud, I shift into second at about 5 mph.

The car has been an absolute pleasure to own. I am just a caretaker of history.
